MMU's Enactus team at Nationals

Mount Mercy University’s Enactus team earned a Sweet 16 spot for the fourth year in a row at the National Exposition in Kansas City, Missouri. Two students from the Enactus team were in the running for the Project Leader of the Year Award and the Executive Leader of the Year Award. Another team member was a finalist for  the Jules & Gwenn Knapp Scholarship. The MMU Enactus team is one of four teams that have achieved a Sweet 16 spot for the last four years. Out of 400 teams nationally and over 80 teams that competed, Enactus placed within the Top 12 at the National Expo.
Multicultural Fair

Mount Mercy University will celebrate its students and the diverse cultures they represent at the annual Multicultural Fair on Thursday, May 2, 5–8 p.m. More than 20 cultures will be represented through posters, artifacts, apparel, music, food and other items. Table displays will begin in the Sisters of Mercy University Center at 5 p.m., a show will be held in McAuley Auditorium at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served in Betty Cherry Heritage Hall at 7 p.m.

The Mount Mercy University Students in Human Resource Management (SIHRM) club was once again awarded the 2017–2018 Merit Award by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student chapter members.

Starting up a business can be hard, and getting the word out can even be harder. That's why some students at Mount Mercy University helped four local small businesses owned by women build websites. The Mount Mercy University Students in Human Resource Management (SIHRM) club was awarded a 2016–2017 Merit Award by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student chapter members. Of the 327 student chapters from across the United States, Mount Mercy was one of 149 winners.

Mount Mercy University’s Enactus club made it to the final competition round at the 2017 Enactus United States National Exposition in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 23. Claiming fourth place out of more than 450 teams nationwide, this is the highest ranking ever for Mount Mercy’s Enactus (formally SIFE) team—a Mount Mercy organization for 19 years.

Free helmets, bike safety checks, and a fun obstacle course are all part of the upcoming Bike Rodeo for kids on Saturday, May 13, 2–4 p.m. at Mount Mercy University in the upper Warde Hall parking lot off of Warde Court NE. Hosted by the Mount Mercy University Bike Club, club members hope to pass on their passion for biking to area kids while also teaching important bike safety lessons. Children who attend will have an opportunity to win a new bike, but should bring their own bikes to the event.

Mount Mercy University’s Enactus club was recently nominated for a 2017 Engaged Campus Award by Iowa Campus Compact (IACC). The team was nominated in the Emerging Innovation category, which honors a recent project, program or initiative making unique and innovative contributions that demonstrate strong future potential.

Mount Mercy University’s Enactus club placed in the top 12 at the 2016 Enactus United States National Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 17. This is the highest ranking the team has earned in the 18 years Enactus (formally SIFE) has been at Mount Mercy.

Education in Iowa is constantly changing and evolving, affecting higher education students seeking degrees in education-related fields. To help answer questions looming in the minds of education majors, Mount Mercy University’s Student-Iowa State Education Association (S-ISEA) will host a Superintendent Q&A panel on March 29 at 5:30 p.m. in Flaherty Community Room, Basile Hall.
