Associate Prof. of Accounting  Steve Gilmour supervised a group of Mount Mercy University accounting students who completed the annual audit of the books/records for the League of Women Voters- Linn County chapter. The audit was completed during winter term 2017 and provided students with a “hands-on” service-learning opportunity.

Nate Klein. Mount Mercy University Enactus earned 4th place in the Nation at the Enactus National Expo in Kansas City, MO out of over 450 teams throughout the USA.

Ochs, Joy:

Served as an outside committee member for a doctoral candidate at Eastern Kentucky University. Melissa Helton defended her dissertation “Student Perceptions of the Honors Program at an Appalachian Community College” on May 2, 2017, and earned her EdD.

Presented “The Body Unrooted: Displaced Human Ecologies in the Fiction of Kavery Nambisan” at the MMU Community Of Scholars Day, April 28, 2017.

Wrote a $424,000 College Sustainability grant, which has advanced to the final stage at the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation. This grant will support curriculum development, undergraduate research and socially responsible entrepreneurship, faculty and staff development, and an Office of Sustainability and Stewardship to initiate and coordinate sustainability efforts across campus. In addition, it supports the creation of a Sustainability Scholars Program, to build cohorts of student leaders in the area of campus sustainability and environmental justice.
