Designed for people with a passion for athletics

Be prepared to lead in a competitive and dynamic business environment.

Our sport and recreation management major goes beyond basic classroom learning. It unites real-world experience with a strong curriculum to create tomorrow’s outstanding leaders.

Designed for people with a passion for athletics, this track will prepare you to manage, evaluate, and execute sport and recreation programs in a variety of settings, like professional sports organizations, marketing agencies, event management companies, community recreation facilities, and more.

Mount Mercy has countless opportunities and programs like this that encourage students to step out of their comfort zones—both in and out of the classroom.

Local opportunities

Experience sets you up for success.

With four minor league teams in Cedar Rapids, internship opportunities are available in a variety of sports, including soccer, hockey, baseball, and arena football. Often, our student-athletes take on a leadership role in the community, mentoring and coaching middle- and high-school-aged students.

In our sport and recreation management program, hands-on experience is a must. You'll complete one capstone and two practical experiences, choosing from internships, practicums, and independent study.

What are the next steps?

Mount Mercy offers competitive tuition and generous scholarships.

We also encourage all students to apply for federal, state, and other kinds of financial assistance.
