Mount Mercy University is a Catholic, coeducational University founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928 enrolling approximately 1450 students. The University offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated and graduate degree programs on a picturesque campus overlooking the city of Cedar Rapids.
Mount Mercy University is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Campus Programs Assistant. This position works directly with university students and reports to the Interim Director of Campus Ministry and the Director of the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE). This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position assigned to 20 hours per week in each department. This is a TEMPORARY position (December 2024 - May 2025).
Provide immediate, exceptional, and personal service to all Mount Mercy University students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Assure all guests to the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) and Campus Ministry are efficiently and confidently connected with the individuals and resources to support their needs.
Coordinate exam schedules and manage alternative testing materials in ACE.
Implement faith and service opportunities within campus ministry.
Create and support an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students on campus.
Promote and support our Catholic identity and the mission and legacy of the Sisters of Mercy.
Facilitate ecumenical/interfaith opportunities for a variety of faith traditions through worship, prayer and study.
Create and facilitate spiritual development opportunities with Campus Ministry staff and assist with planning and leading service and volunteer opportunities for students. This may include retreats, guest speakers and liturgies as needed.
Maintain knowledge of the Academic Center’s services, including technology and academic support programs provided by ACE staff, the Access & Disability Services Coordinator, and Peer Educators.
Support students utilizing ACE resources and Access & Disability Services accommodations while maintaining confidential, accurate and detailed testing schedules and data.
Coordinate alternative testing schedules and communicate reminders and updates to students, faculty and ACE staff.
Provide timely communication of alternative testing policies and procedures to course faculty, students, and proctors.
Ability to collaborate positively with Academic Center and Campus Ministry staff to meet department and university goals.
Demonstrate a commitment to assuring high levels of confidentiality and professionalism.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Must be able to effectively use EXCEL for scheduling, data collection and reporting.
Ability to use a variety of office productivity software including Microsoft 365.
Work both independently and cooperatively with department team members in an often fast-paced, student-facing, university environment.
Support and demonstrate an understanding of the Catholic faith and the mission of the Sisters of Mercy.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Successful experience serving others in an academic, ministry or comparable setting.
