Financial Aid Administrative Assistant

Mount Mercy University is a Catholic, coeducational university founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928 enrolling approximately 1,400 students. The university offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated and graduate degree programs on a picturesque campus overlooking the city.

Mount Mercy University is seeking candidates to fill the position of Financial Aid Administrative Assistant in the Student Financial Services Office. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid and is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Responsibilities Include

  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact at the front desk; which includes covering the phones, responding to emails and assisting walk-ins.
  • Import and process daily files from the Department of Education.
  • Run daily reports to initiate the financial aid awarding process.
  • Provide administrative support in various tasks within the office.
  • Counsel students and parents on financial aid funding options available, the billing process, loan eligibility issues including grade level and limits and dropping classes.
  • Maintain industry best practices by staying up to date on federal and state changes.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college is preferred.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Capability of paying close attention to detail.
  • Prior experience working in accounting, financial aid or higher education is preferred.
