St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Psychology at the University’s Mount Mercy campus, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Faculty rank (e.g., instructor, assistant professor, etc.) will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Faculty status (i.e., tenure track or term appointment) is negotiable, but may be contingent on the candidate’s credentials. Start date is August 15, 2025.
The ideal candidate will possess the following with respect to credentials and experience:
Have earned a PhD in Psychology or a closely related field.
Have a record of successful teaching at the college level.
Have experience teaching Cognitive Psychology and/or Biological Psychology.
Have the ability and desire to mentor and guide undergraduate student research while also advancing a personal research agenda.
The individual hired for this position will be expected to enthusiastically embrace the following responsibilities and objectives:
Teach courses in Cognitive Psychology, Biological Psychology, Research Methods, Statistics, and Introductory Psychology with the possibility of teaching other courses of interest.

In August 2024, St. Ambrose University and Mount Mercy University signed an agreement to fully combine the two universities. Pending accreditation and regulatory approvals, Mount Mercy employees will become St. Ambrose employees in the summer of 2025 and the two campuses will fully merge operations for the fall 2026 semester. Thus, faculty and staff members hired in advance of the fall 2025 semester to work on the Mount Mercy campus will be hired as St. Ambrose employees working on the Mount Mercy campus.
