Mount Mercy University is a Catholic, co-educational university founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928 enrolling approximately 1450 students. The university offers a variety of liberal arts, pre-professional, accelerated and graduate degree programs on a picturesque campus overlooking the city.
Mount Mercy University is seeking candidates to fill the Student Engagement & Event Services Coordinator role on campus. This position is responsible for university events and will require working a non-standard work schedule, which will include working evenings and weekends. This position reports to the Director of Student Engagement and is a full-time role.
Primary Function
To manage student employees and coordinate volunteers for the departments of Student Engagement and Event Services. This position will report to the Director of Student Engagement and oversee hiring, training, and supervision of student employees in the departments of Student Engagement and Event Services. Within Student Engagement, this position will work with students to plan and execute major student events such as Welcome Weeks, Homecoming, Stress-Buster Weeks, commencement-related activities, etc. Within Event Services, this position will coordinate the setup, operation, and takedown associated with all events on main campus and the CRST Graduate Center. Additionally, this role will utilize the Events Management System (EMS) and be knowledgeable about other technology platforms needed to host an event. This position will also work with IT to ensure that the audio-visual equipment is in working order or replaced when needed. This position will serve on some committees such as the Commencement Committee.

- Ability to quickly and easily get to know many students and the ability to work alternative hours when student issues or programing needs require it.
- Experience establishing collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and outside constituent groups.
- Ability to prioritize and deal with several tasks concurrently, while maintaining flexibility, high energy, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a staff where cooperation and teamwork are essential.
- Knowledge of the organization and operation of the University, both administratively and academically, especially regarding those activities directly related to residential students. Knowledge of state-of-the-art developments in the operation of campus housing and in student development.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and confidential written information.
- Ability to use new technologies to accomplish departmental goals.
- Ability to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to physically move chairs, tables, and stage equipment while preparing and cleaning up from events.
Experience & Education
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required
- At least two years of experience in higher education is preferred
- Experience in planning events and/or event management is preferred
- Experience with audio-visual equipment is preferred
Licenses
- A valid driver’s license is required.
