Mount Mercy University is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of System Administrator in the Infor-mation Technology Services division. This position reports to the Interim Director of Information Technology. This is a full-time Exempt (salary) position. Hours range from 8am to 4:30pm Monday – Friday with required additional time for maintenance windows.
This position is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensures system hardware, operating sys-tems, software systems and related procedures adhere to organizational values and industry best practices.
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. In accordance with standards and project / operational requirements.
Install and configure systems infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Contribute to and maintain system standards.
Research and recommend innovative and where possible automated approaches for system administra-tion tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide for economies of scale. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server re-sources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
Create, change and delete user accounts per request.
Provide Tier III / other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot is-sues.
Repair and recover from hardware and software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Config-ure / add new services as necessary.
Maintain operation, configuration, or other procedures.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Con-figure CPU, memory and disk partitions as required.
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
CCNA, VCTA, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, A+ certification or equivalent training is desired.Higher education work experience preferred.
Proficiency in networking terminology and troubleshooting basic network-related problems.
Comprehensive ability to troubleshoot and resolve Windows-based PC hardware and software issues.
Experience with Active Directory.
Able to support and maintain Windows Server 2019 and later.
Experience in Help Desk setting (assist users troubleshooting daily problems).
Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 Operating System.
Experience with Microsoft Office 2016 applications or later.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating poise, and enthusiasm for MMU
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills required
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines required.
