About

Sarah Kersevich joined Mount Mercy University in 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Nursing.

Before arriving on the Hill, Sarah worked as a Bedside RN/Charge Nurse at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. After she became a nurse practitioner, she worked as a primary care pediatric provider for the next five years.

In addition, Sarah worked at UIHC for the Stead Family Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Hematology specialty for two years. Following this, Sarah opened her own private practice in Iowa City where she continues to see pediatric and young adult clients for mental health concerns.

Sarah’s special interest areas in her field include pharmacology, emotional health, and functional medicine. She is looking forward to contributing in Mount Mercy’s Martin Herold College of Nursing & Health and empowering nurses to become leaders in their field. Further, Sarah feels deeply honored by the opportunity to be a part of the faculty in such a highly regarded nursing program.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time outside, especially gardening or hiking. She also loves listening to music—her favorite form of the fine arts—though she could also happily roam a museum for hours. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Sarah started a hobby of collecting vinyl records and loves to listen to them. Her love of music has inspired her to begin studying the therapeutic use of rhythm and music for emotional health.
