About
Christa Nelson, assistant professor of business and marketing, has been teaching in an adjunct faculty role since 2004. She has been with Mount Mercy’s Business Department as an adjunct since 2019 and began full-time in Fall 2020.
Nelson has taught at the associates, bachelors, and masters levels, including several years in the adult accelerated programs. She primarily teaches business, marketing, and communication courses.
Nelson is a gifted encourager and natural brand influencer who specializes in tactical marketing strategies, graphic/web design, digital marketing strategies, social media, SEO, and storytelling. Nelson is a natural educator and frequently guest lectures on various marketing topics, branding techniques, and communication tools. She is quite passionate about helping others identify their DNA and tell their story. As a personal and professional brand champion, she is passionate about helping students, young entrepreneurs, and firms of all sizes grow big dreams.
Nelson, a 2020 KCRG Show You Care honoree, is a philanthropic leader who is active in her community as a Marion Chamber Red Coats Ambassador and serves on the board of the Friends of Czech Village and Marion Cares. Nelson volunteers her gifts and talents with the Linn-Mar Foundation, Linn County Evening Rotary Club, Linn-Mar Booster Club, Attachment & Trauma Network, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Antioch Christian Church. She resides in Marion and is the proud parent of three young men, two godsons, and one grandson.
Nelson greatly enjoys collaborating with wonderfully talented individuals and firms and holds them in high regard. Gallup's StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessed her top five themes as Strategic, Developer, Communication, Arranger, and Adaptability, and provided personalized strength insights that describe her quite accurately. Real Colors was also quite accurate with Orange, Blue, and Gold.
The Iowa native is the owner of Epiphany, a small locally owned ad agency. She previously owned and operated The Epiphany Group, Inc., a full-service marketing firm in Atlanta. In her spare time, she enjoys sports, exploring on long walks, photography, travel, and cooking.
