About

Dr. Andy Whitters began his nursing career in the PICU/NICU at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Later, he advanced in the management of patients in the perioperative services of the PACU and Cardiovascular Operating Room at Mercy in Iowa City. During this time, he attained his MSN and DNP with an emphasis in Family Nursing Practice (FNP) and Vascular Care. He practiced for over ten years in the operative environment expanding both vascular care access and services at Mercy of Iowa City and geriatric services at Mercy Cedar Rapids. Concurrently, he has been a nursing advocate as a podcaster for Friends of Flo and an educator for the University of Iowa (TA) and Mount Mercy University (adjunct professor).

His academic interests include teaching Biostatistics and Technology in Healthcare classes while guest lecturing in various anatomy and physiology topics.

Dr. Whitters is a lifelong Iowan from the Czech Village area of Cedar Rapids and currently resides in Iowa City with his wife, two teenage sons, and three mini-golden doodles. His hobbies include photography, ceramics, HIT workouts, and international travel and activities with family, including hiking, fishing, and visits to national parks.
