MMU now offering an accelerated teaching licensure pathway

Teaching Licensure Pathway

Mount Mercy University is proud to announce an accelerated degree pathway for individuals who want to teach and already hold a bachelor’s degree but do not hold a teaching license.

“Students completing MMU’s Teaching Licensure Pathway are fully licensed to teach in the state of Iowa and will join the strong tradition of Mount Mercy educators making an impact on future generations,” said Jennifer Rasmussen, chair of the university’s education department.

Two licensure options are available: elementary education and secondary education with endorsement areas in English, history, biology, mathematics, business, art and music.

Students pursuing a secondary licensure can complete the program in 12 months, while those pursuing an elementary licensure can complete the program in 18 months.

Students may be eligible for financial aid opportunities, including the Iowa Tuition Grant, Federal TEACH Grant, federal student loans and more.
