Multicultural Fair

Mount Mercy University will celebrate its students and the diverse cultures they represent at the annual Multicultural Fair on Thursday, May 2, 5–8 p.m.

More than 20 cultures will be represented through posters, artifacts, apparel, music, food and other items.

Table displays will begin in the Sisters of Mercy University Center at 5 p.m., a show will be held in McAuley Auditorium at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served in Betty Cherry Heritage Hall at 7 p.m.

“The goal of this fair is to display the variety and beauty within our community,” said Sonia Mounzeo-Mampassi, president of Mount Mercy’s International Club. “We’ve encouraged the entire MMU community—Midwest, East Coast, West Coast, indigenous, international and more—to participate.”

Countries and cultures represented at the fair include: Pakistan, Peru, Barbados, Germany, Jamaica, Mexico, El Salvador, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, the Black Student Union, and more.

All are welcome at this free, family-friendly event. Cohosted by the International Club and Office of Diversity & International Student Success.
