The Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity and Empowering Excellence Charter School are excited to bring to campus "Unsung Heroes: A Celebration of Black History."
This event is open to the entire Mount Mercy University CommUNITY, and we look forward to you joining us in a celebratory experience right here on campus. Friends and family are encouraged to attend as well.
"Unsung Heroes" aims to recognize African Americans who do not get credit for their work in our communities. There will be musical performances, guest speakers, and several special presentations. The keynote speaker is Jane Elliot. Elliot is a former schoolteacher, diversity trainer, and activist, best known for her pioneering "Blue Eyes/ Brown Eyes" exercise, which she created in 1968. Her work aims to challenge racism, discrimination, and prejudice in our society.
