DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Mount Mercy Mustangs opened the 2019 season at the Loras College Triangular where they split the two matches. The Mustangs are off to a 1-1 start. In the first match of the day, the Duhawks of Loras College defeated the Mustangs 3-1 (28-26, 17-25, 22-25, 24-26). After winning the first set, the Mustangs were not able to keep rolling as the Duhawks snagged the next three. The Mustangs totaled 47 kills, while hitting .221, 41 assists, 40 digs, and 6.5 blocks.

ATCHISON, Kan. – On to the second half of the grueling Heart of America Conference schedule, the Mount Mercy Mustangs traveled to take on the (RV) Ravens of Benedictine College. During the first matchup between these teams, the Ravens, who were ranked No. 22 at the time, outlasted the Mustangs in the second half to snag the win. This time around the Ravens took control of the game early and went on to the win 85-60.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Having dropped the last three, the Mount Mercy Mustangs were looking to get back on track against conference foe, the Clarke University Pride. The Mustangs would control the game for much of the first half with the Pride nipping at their tails. Leading for a majority of the second half, it would slowly slip away as the Pride came out on top 64-56.

FAYETTE, Mo. – The Heart of America Conference basketball schedule was affected by a snowstorm that swept across the Midwest this weekend. A game between the No. 23 Eagles of Central Methodist University and the Mustangs that was originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12 was rescheduled twice before being played tonight. The Mustangs would storm onto the Eagles' home court and take them by surprise as they dominated the first half before the Eagles regathered at the half to make a comeback and snag the conference win 72-61.

Whitewater, Wis. – With one meet under their belts before the holiday break, the Mustangs returned to action this weekend to get the indoor track & field season officially underway. On Saturday, January 12, the Karl Schlender Invite provided a platform for many Mustang appearances on the podium and personal bests. The men posted a team score of 76, while the women recorded 101 points. Both the men's and women's team placed second behind the dominant NCAA DIII host, UW-Whitewater. On the men's side, many top five performances were recorded in numerous events.

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – After hosting three consecutive conference games, the Mustangs hit the road for a pair. Taking on the 20th-ranked Statesmen of William Penn University tonight, the Mustangs knew the importance of coming onto the court with everything they had.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coming off their first conference win just 48 hours prior, the Mount Mercy Mustangs were looking to make it two in a row. Playing host to the Vikings of Grand View University, the two teams were evenly matched throughout the first half of the game. However, out of the half the Vikings fired on all cylinders taking control of the game and snagging the win from the Mustangs 76-62. With this loss, the Mustangs fall to 5-11 overall and 1-9 in the Heart of America Conference.To start the game, the Vikings would open with a long ball.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A hard fought battle on Saturday afternoon against the Bobcats of Peru State College resulted in the Mustangs' first conference win by a score of 72-65. Trailing for much of the first half, the Mustangs rallied back to take control of the game and defend their home court. This win put an end to the Mustangs' three-game losing streak moving them to 5-10 overall and 1-8 in the Heart of America Conference.To start the game, the Bobcats raced out of the gates on an 8-0 run.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Onto the new year, the Mustangs would jump right back into conference action hosting the Vikings of Missouri Valley College. In a close back and forth game, both teams would struggle in the beginning to find a groove.
