Mount Mercy University recently thanked five local organizations that donated in-kind to Mount Mercy’s clean-up efforts after the August 10 derecho storm.
Resources, materials and equipment were donated by the Cedar Rapids Country Club, King’s Materials, Hughes Nursery & Landscaping, P&K Midwest and Rogers Concrete and Construction. Each organization was given a framed photo of a paver commissioned to be engraved on Mount Mercy’s Rohde Family Plaza that reads, “In gratitude of relief provided following the 2020 derecho” and shirts inscribed, “Evergreen—EverMercy.”
The events were part of a larger effort to thank over 160 MMU employees, students and community members who came together to clean up campus for the September 7 fall start. A dedication event honoring their efforts was held on September 28, which included the reveal of the Rohde Family Plaza paver, a short outdoor program and t-shirt pick-up.
