About
Dr. Kim Bro, dean of the Martin-Herold College of Nursing & Health, has been teaching nursing students full-time since 2006. She has been with Mount Mercy University full-time since 2010.
Bro teaches in the undergraduate program at the sophomore level and in the graduate nurse educator tract. She coordinates summer and J-Term clinical internships.
Bro’s dissertation involved interviewing nursing adjunct clinical faculty and discovering how they best learn in their clinical teaching positions. She enjoys working with nursing adjunct clinical faculty and empowering them to reach their fullest potential. Dr. Bro is dedicated to narrowing the gap between nursing education and practice.
She is passionate about cardiac nursing, practicing as a staff nurse in the heart holding unit and teaching basic life support at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital. She belongs to the American Nurse’s Association, Iowa Nurse’s Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International-Kappa Xi chapter. She volunteers as an intake nurse at the Community Health Free Clinic.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and kickboxing.
