About
Stephanie Michalicek, dramatic soprano, earned a Master's in Music (vocal performance) from the University of Missouri in Columbia and a Bachelor's in Music (vocal performance) from Lawrence University.
Under the tutelage of Dr. Karen Leigh-Post (mezzo-soprano and pioneer in the application of cognitive neuroscience in the voice studio), Stephanie fell in love with teaching the craft of singing and has held a private studio since 2012—championing vocal techniques through a cognitive and kinesthetic relationship.
Working with professional opera companies since 2004 as well as advancing her language and voice studies in Montpellier, France and in Florence, Italy has given Stephanie the opportunity to collaborate with the following world-renowned teachers, coaches, and directors: Gregory Keller (Metropolitan Opera), Robert Morrison (Metropolitan Opera), Jane Klaviter (Metropolitan Opera), Patricia Misslin (instructor of Renee Fleming and Stephanie Blithe), and Dale Dusing (internationally acclaimed baritone). Currently, Stephanie can be seen as a Cedar Rapids area soloist with the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale and the Cedar Rapids Opera.
Notable performance credits include: Abigail Williams (The Crucible), Magda (The Consul), Norma (Norma), Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflüte), Louisa Miller (Louisa Miller), Ann Page (Merry Wives of Windsor), Mother (Little Red’s Most Unusual Day), and Stepmother (Into the Woods).
