After graduating with a degree in health care administration, Gina Pennington ’16, ’19 MBA began working as a scheduler for Mercy Medical Center.
Only nine months in, Gina received a promotion and her path to hospital leadership became clear.“After being promoted to team lead, I knew that I wanted to be in operations,” said Gina. “That meant I needed a master’s degree.”
When it came to picking a master’s program and school, Gina didn’t think twice.
“I still wanted to work full-time and I had such a great experience at Mount Mercy throughout my undergraduate degree, so Mount Mercy’s MBA program was the obvious choice.”

A month into her MBA classes, Gina was promoted to clinic manager.
“I was able to grow into that role by utilizing what I was learning in my classes each week,” said Gina. “I got to know my peers, ask questions, and learn in a way that was relevant to my career path.”
