For Anna Ronnebaum '18 MSL, pursuing a certificate was a no-brainer to help her cultivate leadership skills in herself and others.
MMU: What drew you to the MSL program at MMU? Why Mount Mercy?
AR: MMU offered a program that was both convenient and kept me engaged. I wanted a local school where I could network with individuals within my community. I was also looking for a program that offered something different than just an MBA—I wanted courses focused on organizational development and building leadership skills. The MSL program did this.

MMU: What is unique about our MSL program? Did you have any experiences that surprised you?
AR: Putting in 40+ hours a work week, it was important to me to be in a program that met me where I was at. Mount Mercy worked with my work schedule by providing night classes and I received continued support from my professors. I wasn’t expecting how much I would gain from the networking with peers inside and out of the classroom.

MMU: Where do you currently work and what is your role? Where do you hope to be in the future and how will your MSL degree help you get there?
AR: I currently work for AbbeHealth as a human resources business partner, where I have been able to develop and utilize my MSL to move up within the company. While I’m not sure what the future has in store, I will continue to be able to pursue new opportunities because of my MSL from Mount Mercy.
MMU: What made you want to pursue a certificate? How will the certificate impact your professional career?
"When the opportunity came to pursue a certificate program, it was a no-brainer."
AR: Continuing my education was the hardest but most rewarding decision I have made. It has allowed me to advance in my career by expanding my thinking, fostering my need to ask questions, and encouraging me to explore possibilities. When the opportunity came to pursue a certificate program, it was a no-brainer. Pursing the leadership consulting certificate will help in my role of cultivating strong leadership within our organization.
