Discovering Community
Q: What made you choose to attend Mount Mercy University?
EW: Campus atmosphere. It came across to me as a very tight knit and supportive community—and I was right about it!
I also liked that I would have a chance at developing relationships with professors and faculty that I may not have had at a larger college.

Q: How did you choose your major and minor? What stands out about our programs?
EW: I chose psychology because the brain and how it develops and functions has always fascinated me.
When I transferred to Mount Mercy, I originally wanted to go into counseling, but now I am looking into pursuing my master’s to become a school psychologist.
I enjoy how I am able to build bonds with students that I share multiple classes with since it is a smaller program.
Q: What is your experience like as a transfer student attending Mount Mercy?
EW: I had a relatively smooth transfer, but I did encounter some bumps along the way in the beginning. But I am grateful that I had those bumps, as I am able to use them to help future transfer students not encounter those same issues.
Q: Do you have any favorite moments from your time at Mount Mercy?
EW: Some of my favorite moments have been being able to see the many guest speakers that have been brought in and learning so much about other people.
I also was able to go to Omaha for the fall break service trip in 2021, and it was amazing to be able to meet and help new people.
Q: What are you involved in on campus?
EW: I am in Emmaus and serve as the transfer student representative for the SGA student senate.
Q: What connections have you made at Mount Mercy? How have they impacted you?
EW: I’ve been extremely blessed to meet so many people from Emmaus and become friends with them. Those connections have helped me discover who I am as a person and helped shape my journey with my faith.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?
EW: I am so grateful to have the opportunity to join such a diverse and amazing campus and make connections with people that I hope will last a lifetime.
