"I still remember them marching in. I can still, in my mind, hear the marching od the boots goose-stepping down the street."
After being sent to Westerbork transit camp twice. they managed to avoid deportation with the help of family connections. They eventually spent time in a detention center in Vittel, France, until liberation in September 1944. After the Netherlands was liberated in May 1945, Rodi's family returned to Amsterdam and rebuilt their lives. In 1951, they moved to Chicago.
Rodi married her husband, Marvin, in 1955, and enjoyed the comfort of a large family.
