Ministry works to introduce students to the heritage and values of Mount Mercy through a variety of experiences, including class presentations, orientation programs, service outreach opportunities, and special events.

About Campus Ministry

While reflecting the Catholic roots of Mount Mercy University and the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, we welcome people of all faith backgrounds (and no faith background). Our programs promote faith development, spiritual life, worship, and local and global service.

In the company of your peers, you will become increasingly active in determining the commitments that will guide your life. You will immerse yourself in experiences that range from liturgical ministries and retreats to hands-on service work with those who live on the margins—from Cedar Rapids to Texas, Mississippi, and beyond. Campus Ministry also works closely with a student group called the Peer Ministry Team.

The Division of Mission and Ministry promotes, integrates, and celebrates the mission, goals, vision, and values of Mount Mercy. The work of the division highlights our Catholic identity and Mercy tradition and ensures this as foundational to all aspects of our life as a university.

Mass Schedule

Masses will be held at the Chapel of Mercy in Busse Center throughout the year.

Our Weekly Schedule:

Sunday | 7:30 PM
Tuesday | 8:00 AM
Thursday | 7:30 PM

No Masses are held on campus during fall, winter, and spring breaks and throughout the summer.

Special Dates to Note

Friday, November 1 | 7:30 AM
Solemnity of All Saints.

Sunday, November 3 | 7:30 PM
Since All Souls Day falls on a Saturday, we will pray for all alumni who passed away in the past year during our normal Sunday night Mass that weekend.

Sunday, December 8 | 7:30 PM
Second Sunday of Advent. When December 8 falls on a Sunday, the Immaculate Conception is transferred to Monday, December 9, and the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated so we will not be offering Mass on Campus this year.

From December 11 - January 4 | No Mass on Campus

Students, faculty, staff and community members of all faiths (or no faith background) are invited to Mass at Mount Mercy University. Please join us when you can—you do not need to be Catholic!

Peer Ministry

Peer Ministers commit and dedicate their efforts to serve God through praise, worship and service.  They encourage and enable the spiritual growth of other students and empower them with the gift of God’s merciful love.  Peer Ministers are active in their faith and encourage others to grow in their faith by recognizing and sharing their talents.  They strive to create a community atmosphere in which individuals of all roles, backgrounds, and faiths can come together and celebrate God’s presence.  The organization is made up of two distinct groups.
